NASCO Institute 2017
Grassroots Democracy: Breaking the Mold
Identity / marketing / graphic design
I was selected to design the materials for the annual NASCO conference in Ann Harbor, MI. The materials include a poster, a brochure, social media material, and a t-shirt design.
The North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO) organizes and educates affordable group equity co-ops and their members for the purpose of promoting a community oriented cooperative movement. NASCO and its affiliates have been working with students, worker-owners, activists, and community members who are interested in applying cooperative principles to meet their needs and fulfill their various missions.
The theme of the 2017 conference was Grassroots Democracy: Breaking the Mold. For this theme, I implemented elements of growth, community, roots, nature, cooperative living, and sustainability. I toyed with scale to create a playful composition that included every day scenes of cooperative life through a metaphorical plant growing so strong its roots break through its pot.
